- October 28, 2010: The 11th ASPF was held successfuly with your kindly cooperation! Photo gallery is opend in the homepage.
Outline The 11th Asian Symposium on Precision Forging (ASPF2010) organized by the Forging Research Committee of Japan Society for Technology of Plasticity (JSTP) will take place at Kyoto TERRSA in Kyoto, Japan, during October 24-27, 2010. The ASPF is held every two or three years in different Asian countries. The first symposium was held with the collaboration between China and Japan in Shanghai, China in 1985 and the expansion of the symposium to all Asian countries was decided at the 6th symposium in Nagoya, Japan, in 1998. With its expansion, since the 7th symposium it has been called the Asian Symposium on Precision Forging. The main objective of the ASPF is to promote cooperation in the emerging and important areas of precision forging among Asian countries. The ASPF will hold a forum to share the recent developments, advances, and innovations, and provide a platform for active interactions among engineers/researchers engaged in basic and applied research fields of precision forging. Although the focus of the ASPF will be on Precision Forging, other related areas and their applications will also be covered.
The ASPF2010 will mainly consist of the keynote lectures as well as the invited and contributory paper presentations by engineers and researchers from China, Korea, Taiwan, India, and Japan. It will also arrange some factories visits related to precision forging around Kyoto. The final details of the ASPF will be circulated on September 30, 2010. In the meantime, a website with the details of the upcoming ASPF2010 will also be launched.
Kyoto, the former capital of Japan, has preserved the historic wooden structures and the traditional culture of Japan. Walking around Kyoto area in this wonderful season can make you feel as if you were a time-traveler in Japan, 1000 years ago. It must be fascinating to the ASPF2010 participants and accompanying persons during their stay.
Historical perspective of the seminar The first "China-Japan Joint Symposium on Technology of Plasticity (Cold Forging)" was held in Shanghai, China in 1985. This was sponsored by China Society for Technology of Plasticity, CMES (formerly known as Forging & Stamping Institution, CMES) jointly with the Japan Society for Technology of Plasticity. This symposium was organized every tow or three years, alternately in China and Japan. In order to expand the scope and broaden the academic interaction, its name was changed since 1992 to "China-Japan Joint Symposium on Precision Forging". During the 6th Symposium held in Nagoya, Japan, in 1998, other Asian countries, including Korea, India, Singapore and Taiwan were also invited to participate in this symposium mainly to promote cooperation among different Asian countries. The name of the symposium was accordingly changed to Asian Symposium on Precision Forging (ASPF).
